SLEEPING WITH PEACE

Scripture Reading - Psalms 4:8

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. KJV

Many people in the world today have a hard time going to sleep and/or staying a sleep. I recall just the other day watching a television show based on the reality of people not being able to get a good night’s sleep. The shows answer for typical cases of insomnia was medical attention by a doctor and in extreme (severe) cases a medical doctor who specializes in sleeping disorders. The common recommendations to cure this illness are medicine, behavior changes and/or natural remedies. Since, ihlcc is not qualified to offer any medical opinions, nor is it our calling to question the methods of trained professionals. Therefore, we will speak only on behavior changes coupled with spiritual principles. The first thing a person seeking divine help should do is call upon the Name of the Lord Jesus to be saved. If you believe that Jesus died for your sins it is just as easy to believe that He died for your sicknesses too, including disorders. Having a relationship with God will establish a channel of peace and birth a sense of safety. The scripture tells us that peace has a positive effect on sleep because the atmosphere of peace creates an environment of tranquility that inspires rest. The Believer can always have peace because they know that God is their safety and comfort in their time of need. Everyone in the earth craves for safety in the dark times that face us and God is the light that removes all darkness. Doing this first puts into motion the spiritual principle of God’s deliverance for all those who call upon His Name. The first behavior change would be to meditate upon the above scripture and constantly mutter it during your time awake. By knowing that it is God’s Will for you to enjoy “Peaceful Sleep” it should enhance your understanding about what is promised to you from God. This knowledge will give you the necessary faith to boldly proclaim, “I have perfect sleep in Christ Jesus”. We (ihlcc) do not believe this will be a one-time confession but rather a continuous confession of faith based upon a true conviction of God’s grace and mercy manifesting in your life. This behavior change will require sufficient time spent in God’s Word reading about how to live a Christian life. It is a prayer and confession for “peaceful sleep” coupled with filling your mind with the Life of God’s Word to enjoy the full benefits of continuous sleep. The Lord’s will is for you to go to sleep easily (peacefully, calmly, mentally quiet) and enjoy your sleep for the desired length of time. You can determine the correct amount of sleep necessary for your body but the general principle of eight hours is agreed to by most doctors. We firmly believe if you start in God’s Peace you will find "God’s Sleep" because both are personal promises for you in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
